Joshua Zirkzee vital to Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United desire – opinion

Manchester United’s new boy Joushua Zirkzee is settling in at Old Trafford and is starting to show the talent he can bring to Erik ten Hag’s Red Devils.

It was a fast start to life as a Red Devil after Joshua Zirkzee scored the winning goal against Fulham on the opening day of the Premier League.

Post-Fulham he has missed several good chances but it shouldn’t be a concern for Ten Hag due to the other talent he is showing in attack.

The 23-year-old isn’t a goal machine but does possess the ability to be a creator as well as a goal threat for the Red Devils.

In the Southampton clash it was only his second start since joining in the summer, with the Dutch forward needing time to settle into English football.

The former Bologna star may not be converting every chance he receives but he has been a constant threat and a key player in United’s attack.

Joshua Zirkzee’s performance vs Southampton is a positive sign for Manchester United

Zirkzee was an impressive performer for the Red Devils in the 3-0 victory at Saint Mary’s against Southampton.

The new Red Devil showed his impressive ability to operate in tight spaces, link-up play and raise the technical level of the United attack.

In the Southampton game, it was clear to see that the new striker is developing on-pitch relations with Amad and Rashford with quick interplay in the United attack.

The only thing lacking in his game yesterday was a much-deserving goal.

If the new Red Devil continues to play to that level, not only will the goals come but he will challenge the returning Rasmus Hojlund for a starting spot.

The two strikers are different profiles but Zirkee’s ability to link up play in attack may favour the style the Red Devils’ boss is trying to show.

  1. Zirkzee is a very intelligent player. When he gets to know Amad and Rashford better in how they play off him, he will be great for us. His one two’s with both players looked like it would produce more goals yesterday. It will happen in the future when he settles in.
