“What does he have to do”- TalkSport pundit makes bold Erik ten Hag prediction

Pressure is mounting on Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag with TalkSport’s Sam Matterface the latest to predict the Dutchman’s Old Trafford future.

Erik ten Hag would have hoped that Ineos backing him in the summer with a contract extension would squash the rumours about his future at Old Trafford.

The former Ajax boss has had success with domestic cups in England, lifting both the FA Cup and League Cup during his time with the Red Devils.

However, last campaign he guided United to their worst-ever Premier League finish in eighth which undoubtedly raised questions about his future in the Old Trafford hotseat.

It has been a disappointing start to the new campaign with only one win against Fulham on the opening day.

Since the opening victory, Ten Hag’s side lost back-to-back games against Brighton & Hove Albion and bitter rivals Liverpool.

The last match against Liverpool was a hard 3-0 defeat for the United supporters to watch at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils looked very open in midfield, a consistent issue that the former Ajax coach has to solve in the coming weeks.

TalkSport’s Sam Matterface predicts Gareth Southgate will not replace Erik ten Hag

Since the defeat to Liverpool, media speculation on the 54-year-old Old Trafford future has been rife.

TalkSport’s Sam Matterface is the latest to give his opinion on the ongoing situation at Manchester United.

Speaking live on TalkSport, Matterface said: “So, what does he [Erik ten Hag] have to do to keep his job?

“Listen, you know my feelings on it and I wouldn’t be surprised … I think they might not appoint Southgate now because the fans don’t want Gareth Southgate.

“I can understand that because they were frustrated at what they saw in the summer and they’re like ‘We don’t want that.’

“But, I understand it from a Dan Ashworth, Berrada, and Wilcox point of view.

“They want someone who is going to be an ambassador for Manchester United, who’s going to stand there and talk about the great things at Manchester United, sell the club, and is going to try and build form the ground upwards a new dynasty.”
