Jarrad Branthwaite still a target for Manchester United despite Everton’s demands

Manchester United want to strengthen their backline this summer. Talks are underway for players such as Matthijs de Ligt and Jarrad Branthwaite to move to Old Trafford.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano refuses to rule out the possibility of Branthwaite signing for United.

It is understood that personal terms will not be an issue, but Everton’s demands are huge while United won’t let another Premier League club pull the wool over their eyes.

Romano suggests a move for Branthwaite is still on the cards, even though United are making process in their pursuit of Bayern Munich centre-back Matthijs de Ligt.

Romano told GiveMeSport, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News: “Let me tell you something again about the situation of Jarrad Branthwaite, because we said about (Matthijs) de Ligt, but Branthwaite remains a name on the list of Manchester United.

“For Manchester United, the Branthwaite case is quite clear. They like the player, they keep appreciating the player, the player is open to joining Manchester United. No issue on personal terms, but it depends on Everton.”

Everton must sell players if they want to avoid more point deductions next season unless they can find another way to recoup millions of pounds. The jury is out on that one and Branthwaite is their biggest asset.

Romano also shared an update on De Ligt, saying: “Let me just say on Matthijs de Ligt that the contact between Manchester United and Bayern Munich continues for the Dutch defender. Bayern want to sign Jonathan Tah and are very confident and Manchester United keep discussing with Bayern about the structure of the deal for Matthijs de Ligt.

“Manchester United want to include add-ons into the package, as I’ve already said, so they are formulating internally the best proposal possible for Matthijs de Ligt. They have the green light of the player, Matthijs de Ligt wants to go to Manchester United.”

  1. All efforts be taken to get the preferred players at Old Trafford, not alternative choices as has been in the past.
That’s how to assemble a winning squad
