Young forward, 14, confirms Ipswich Town to Manchester United move

Manchester United have bolstered their academy ranks with the signing of Ipswich Town striker Silva Mexes.

The youngster, aged 14, is the son of former Nottingham Forest and Wales striker Robert Earnshaw.

United already have a fantastic reputation for producing the best young players, with first-team opportunities given to those who develop into better players and professionals.

That is why it makes sense for Mexes to make the move to United. It is understood that there was interest from some other top English clubs before an agreement was reached with the Reds.

Posting on his Instagram page to confirm the move, Mexes wrote: “Very proud moment for me and my family to announce my signing for Manchester United. Thank you for everyone who has helped me on my journey so far. The work starts now.”

The works starts now

I couldn’t have said it better myself! Mexes is obviously looking to get started at United following some time off during the summer.

Hopefully, Mexes can follow in the footsteps of other academy players that went on to become first-team graduates.

Welcome to the club!
