Wesley Sneijder has grown strangely accustomed to sharing his two pence on Manchester United lately.
The former Dutch international has shared what he believes was the exact moment that Erik ten Hag lost his dressing room, and it’s not really a concept we can get on board with.
To say there’s been plenty of reasons to criticise Ten Hag, especially this season, his treatment of Cristiano Ronaldo hasn’t really been up there for most United fans. More so his questionable signings (Antony), substitutions and, as of late, his tactics.
Ronaldo’s second spell at Old Trafford was far from the fairytale ending that supporters had hoped for, however, numerous moments will forever hold a special place in the memories of match-goers. For example, in the Newcastle United game at home when he marked his return with a brace in front of 70,000+ Reds.
Ultimately though, it was the best decision for all parties when he bid farewell for the second and final time in January 2022.
Sneijder resurfaces already-settled beef
Still, Sneijder disagrees with such sentiment, and when the Portugal hero went through a phase of being frequently benched, it’s clear whose side he was on.
“He already made a mistake by competing with Ronaldo,” Sneijder said of Ten Hag on the Dutch TV show Veronica Offside. “He lost everyone’s respect there. He thought it would work the other way around, but of course not.
“Those guys in the dressing room thought, “Is this man crazy?”’
