Manchester United predicted XI vs Burnley: Mount & Amad start

Manchester United will welcome Mason Mount back to the squad against Burnley, Erik ten Hag confirmed this afternoon.

The Reds edged past Sheffield United on Wednesday night thanks to two goals from Bruno Fernandes. Credit is also due to Harry Maguire and Rasmus Hojlund for getting on the scoresheet in United’s 4-2 win over the Blades.

It doesn’t help that United are having problems in the injury department and the manager is still without several defenders such as Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evans, Raphael Varane and Willy Kambwala.

All four of those players are likely to remain sidelined for the visit of Burnley this weekend, which means we will see Casemiro partner Harry Maguire at centre-back for the third game running.

Rashford is also set to miss out again after sustaining a knock in the FA Cup semi-final win over Coventry City. The forward was left out of the squad for Wednesday night’s victory over Chris Wilder’s side.

The only player who could mark a return on Saturday is Mount. The England international has played just 432 minutes of league football this season. He has a lot to prove if he wants to get into the line-up for this year’s FA Cup final.

Andre Onana committed another mistake on Wednesday night, but he is one of the first names on the teamsheet each week.

The back four will remain the same from Wednesday night’s victory.

In midfield, I suspect we will see Mount replace Christian Eriksen, who was very poor against Sheffield United. He should be joined by Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes.

I think it’s time to give Amad Diallo a chance from the start in the league match. That is why I’d like to see the Ivory Coast international replace Antony in the line-up. Rasmus Hojlund will lead the line, while Alejandro Garnacho attacks from the left flank.

Manchester United predicted XI: Onana; Dalot, Casemiro, Maguire, Wan-Bissaka; Mainoo, Mount, Fernandes; Amad, Hojlund, Garnacho.
