Midfielder could be forced to deputise in new position after Ten Hag is dealt triple injury blow before FA Cup SF

Manchester United’s debilitating injury crisis is showing no signs of slowing down before the campaign draws to a close.

Fans likely thought they’d been granted some luck on the fitness front when Erik ten Hag announced on Friday that three players had been cleared to feature in Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final: Antony, Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire were all confirmed to be available after their respective injury setbacks.

Now, a fresh update was shared last night which revealed that Mason Mount, Sofyan Amrabat and Willy Kambwala have all been ruled out of the vital contest at Wembley.

The latter of the trio, Kambwala, was certain to start given that every other senior centre-back is also sidelined, so Casemiro has been tested alongside Harry Maguire and could be called upon to deputise in defence this afternoon.

A torrid term for Mount at Old Trafford

Mount’s injury is his third separate layoff of the season after he was signed on a £60 million package deal from Chelsea last summer, despite his contract at Stamford Bridge expiring this June. He has made just 17 appearances for United, only seven of which were as a starter. 12 of those outings came in the Premier League.
