Video: Klopp believes United ‘put an extra shift in’ whenever Liverpool play at Old Trafford

Jurgen Klopp was made to settle for one point in his final meeting with Manchester United as Liverpool manager.

Despite scoring the first and final goals of the game, it was two moments of magic from Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo in between that had the Reds back in the mix for a potential victory over their fiercest rivals.

A late penalty call meant that the spoils were ultimately shared, though, with Mohamed Salah able to convert from the spot swiftly to ensure the Merseyside outfit left with something. Given that they’re in a title race, the result will have certainly dented their hopes of getting their hands on the trophy next month.

Klopp’s post-match reaction

Post-match, Klopp gave his analysis of the evening’s affairs and shared how he believes that United navigate a different game plan when facing/ hosting Liverpool.

“That’s now the situation,” he told Sky Sports. “It’s a point at Manchester United, and the most important thing is I know how people see it [as] two points lost, but as far as I’m concerned, I see it as we have a point more than before the game,” Klopp told Sky Sports.

“It’s an away game at Manchester United – I think for us, the away games at United are more special [than] for other teams, for us they put an extra shift in – that’s how it is. We’ll face that again when we play against Everton, so these are the games we have to be ready for.”
