OGC Nice have reportedly set an asking price of approximately £40 million for the services of club captain and France international Jean-Clair Todibo.

This update comes courtesy of Fabrizio Romano via X, where the reporter stated that the 24-year-old has been on United’s radar since last summer.

Manchester United are understood to be scanning the market for young centre-backs with potential to become the best. Todibo is part of a transfer wish list that contains the likes of Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite and Benfica’s Antonio Silva.

The £40m asking price seems reasonable considering how much we would have to pay for Branthwaite or Silva. Moreover, we know that Ineos Sports group have a majority stake in Nice and may want to bring Todibo to their latest project.

Louis Saha rates Todibo

Back in November, former United striker Saha stated that Todibo could fit into Ten Hag’s system due to his versatility across the back.

Saha said: “He’s a very good defender. He’s very unlucky because currently there’s a golden generation of French defenders and that’s why he doesn’t have many caps for the national team.

“He’s very good on the ball, he’s calm and he would very much suit Manchester United’s style of play.”

Let us know in the comment section if you think Todibo could be a replacement for Raphael Varane.
