Video: ‘It really hurt’ – Liverpool legend gives bitter verdict on FA Cup defeat to Manchester United

Liverpool legend John Aldridge admits he is hurting after watching his beloved side lose their FA Cup quarter-final tie against Manchester United.

Erik ten Hag’s side were at their chaotic best as they went toe-to-toe with Liverpool in Sunday’s 4-3 win at Old Trafford.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were minutes from progressing to the semi-finals only for United to score two equalisers and a 112st-minute winner.

John Aldridge is rattled

You will be happy to hear that former Liverpool star John Aldridge has reacted terribly to the defeat, after serving up a bitter assessment of the game for his podcast The Aldo Show. I must admit it made my morning as I opened X and discovered a video of him trying to bitterly deflect away from how United ended Liverpool’s dream of a quadruple.

“Top teams don’t go to a team like Man United at this moment and concede four goals,” Aldridge said, as per The Sunday World.

“You just don’t. They’re not in a good place. We are. It was their cup final and it all happened for them. I don’t want to be sour about it, but it really hurt.

“The fact, you know, and Ten Hag… he’s just… it’s papering over the cracks for me. They are in a place now where they’re miles away. They might not be in terms of the position in the league or the points, but they are in overall construction of the club, the team.

“They’ve got Ratcliffe in now. If he can change it up a bit?

“But Ten Hag, for me, is just on borrowed time. And from a Liverpool point of view, the only good thing on Sunday was it keeps him going.”

After mentioning how the defeat hurt, Aldridge went on a rant and used it as bait for his podcast by aiming a childish dig at Ten Hag.

It’s not like United fans are crying at the rooftops for a change in manager. There might be division in many corners over his job, but most hate the idea of the Dutchman being replaced by Gareth Southgate, which is a possible outcome that has been heavily tipped in the media this week.

Aldridge has his head in the clouds, but he is extremely naïve in he thinks replacing Klopp is going to be a smooth process. He should worry about the problems likely to face Liverpool in the coming months.
