MUTV duo wax lyrical over ‘exceptional’ Manchester United star in dramatic win over Liverpool

Manchester United winger Amad Diallo scored a stoppage-time winner against Liverpool, with help from Alejandro Garnacho as the pair hurt Jurgen Klopp’s side with their pace on a counter-attack.

The two academy graduates combined for a winner in front of the Stretford End to clinch a 4-3 extra-time win over rivals Liverpool.

Garnacho kept his cool as he carried the ball up the field before playing a through ball to Amad. The Ivorian supplied the final with his weak foot as the ball trickled past Caoimhin Kelleher and into the back of the net.

MUTV analysed the win, performance and contributions of several players.

It was Garnacho who was voted man of the match by fans via ManUtd.com. The teenager nursed a hamstring injury last week and missed training as a result. However, that did not stop him from causing havoc for Liverpool.

Mark Sullivan was on presenting duties for MUTV, saying (via United in Focus): “What about going out towards the extra time, his energy, to still be able to run up with his pace, with the ball, to have the awareness he had around him.

“I thought he was exceptional particularly in that extra time period.”

Former United full-back Danny Simpson, who won the Premier League during his time at Leicester City, was in total agreement. He said: “There is nothing worse as a full-back, or any defender, when you’re feeling a bit tired and thinking ‘why is he still going, how is he still going?’

“Eventually he ran through running back and he’s laid off to Amad, I thought ‘was it just behind’, but it was two young kids that won us the game in the end.”

Hopefully, Garnacho can get the rest he needs during the March international break. We’ll need him fully fit for the big games we’ve got coming up!
