Gossip: Jarrad Branthwaite emerges as No 1 transfer target

Manchester United have already been linked with a number of top centre-backs ahead of the summer transfer window.

A one moment OGC Nice star Jean-Clair Todibo was flavour of the month, but now everyone is talking about Everton starlet Jarrad Branthwaite.

The 21-year-old broke into the Everton team this season after a season-long loan at PSV Eindhoven, with stood him in good stead for life in the top-flight.

Everton may be unsure of their future in the Premier League, but it doesn’t sound like something Branthwaite needs to be concerned about because there will be plenty of interest in the centre-back’s signature at the end of the season – whether the Toffees stay up or drop down to the Championship.

Selfishly, I wouldn’t be against them dropping down so that we can sign Branthwaite at a cost price deal.
