Omar Berrada holding secret meetings ahead of Manchester United role

Back in January, Manchester United scored a major coup in landing Man City CEO Omar Berrada as part of a shake-up following the acquisition of 25% of the club by Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Berrada is currently on gardening leave at City, but the Manchester Evening News claims he has held secret meeting that some senior figures at United have been unaware of.

Unfortunately for United, Berrada cannot officially represent United while he is on gardening leave at City, but he is permitted to prepare for his new role.

It is understood that Berrada is keen to maintain working relationships with those he dealt with when he was the chef football operations officer at City, which is good news for us unless he’s sending intel back to his previous employers.

We’ll give Berrada the benefit of doubt as we believe Ineos Sports group want the best in class for United. Hopefully he is the right man for the job and helps bring success back to Old Trafford.

Samuel Luckhurst reports: “Berrada has recommended Southampton director of football Jason Wilcox as a potential technical director, having worked with him during his six-year tenure as academy director at City.”

It remains to be seen if football director John Murtough has a future at the club.

The specifics of Berrada’s secret meetings are unknown, though he is known as a shrewd operator in the football world and it is something United fans should be excited about – along with Dan Ashworth’s likely arrival.
