Gossip: Zidane, De Zerbi and Inzaghi on Manchester United radar

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is under immense pressure.

British billionaire and Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is not understood to be completely sold on Ten Hag as manager.

As a result, we are beginning to see another flurry of managers linked with the United job.

Is it really that time again?

Wednesday’s Manchester United gossip

Manchester Evening News: Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi is another potential candidate to replace the Dutchman at Old Trafford.

Foot Mercato: Former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is top of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s list to replace Ten Hag.

TuttoSport: Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Barcelona are all giving Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi considerable consideration.

The Athletic: Mason Greenwood would be reluctant to return to Manchester United, even if the club offered to bring him back next season.

The Sun: Marcus Rashford and Erik ten Hag are ‘barely’ speaking as United staff fear their relationship is beyond repair.

Stretty News verdict

We’ve said repeatedly down the years that United need to step away from recycling managers every 2-3 years, and this feels like another rinse and repeat job.

Ten Hag had us all believing again 12 months ago, but now everyone is doubting him – forgetting that we’ve had countless injuries all season and that when Lisandro Martinez and co returned for a short spell, we started playing well again.

I hope Ten Hag gets a third season to turn things around at Old Trafford. I believe he can and, I sincerely hope talk of another managerial sacking/appointment is rubbish.
