After yet another subpar performance this past weekend, Manchester United may be beginning to lose trust in Erik ten Hag.
Even though Man United had a fantastic run of results to start the year undefeated, many people could tell that they weren’t playing well enough to be too happy.
This worry was realised on Saturday when United’s bad display and unsustainable performances ultimately caught up to them at Old Trafford during their 2-1 loss to Fulham.
There is no style of play, no identity and no set pattern with which United play, unlike other top teams in the league.
Following an upsetting loss over the weekend, it appears that United are considering their manager alternatives.
Simone Inzaghi, the manager of Inter Milan, is reportedly being considered in light of Erik ten Hag’s struggles.
TuttoSport claims that Liverpool, Chelsea, Barcelona, and United are all giving the 47-year-old Inter Milan manager considerable consideration. With a significant salary boost and a strong track record—he appears certain to win the Serie A this season—Inzaghi would benefit greatly from the move to England.
The only thing that would not make sense in United going for Inzaghi is the kind of formation he prefers. The Italian manager likes to play in a 3-5-2 formation, which would be alien to the Red Devils.
If he comes to Old Trafford and signs players that are suited to his style of play and formation, that would make sense for the club. The current players would have to go through a massive learning curve to learn Inzaghi’s ideas.
Apart from Inzaghi, another Italian manager is of keen interest to United and that is Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi.
