Antonio Valencia was fiercely critical Manchester United’s performance in our 2-1 defeat against Fulham on Saturday, stressing that ‘there were never any excuses’ during his time at Old Trafford.

It seems the current group of United players are too fond of excuses, social media apologies and inconsistency on the pitch.

That wasn’t the case during Valencia’s time at United.

The former United right-back took to X to claim there were ‘never any excuses’ when he played for United under Sir Alex Ferguson. Valencia also accompanied the post with a picture of him wearing the United shirt during his playing days.

The angry reaction comes after the Reds suffered a disappointing 2-1 loss, while displaying a lacklustre performance. I highly doubt any United fan left Old Trafford yesterday thinking anything but Fulham deserved all three points. We’ve lost ground in the race for a top four finish too.

Even Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson labeled the performance ‘shocking’ against Fulham.

We need players who will fight for the shirt. Who is going to stand up and prove it for the remainder of the season and beyond?
