Dwight Yorke is unimpressed with Manchester United’s season thus far and doesn’t see the side lifting any silverware by the summer.
The Old Trafford faithful will undoubtedly share that sentiment – the first part anyway, depending on how optimistic you feel about the FA Cup.
Exiting the Champions League at the group stage, being knocked out of the Carabao Cup in the fourth round – a trophy they held – and slipping down the Premier League table led to a bleak Christmas period in M16 last year.
United are, however, unbeaten in 2024 after claiming six wins and one draw in all competitions, which has seen them book their spot in the fifth round of the FA Cup and begin closing the gap on the top four. But their frequent slip-ups in the first half of the campaign mean that the odds are very much stacked against them to go all the way in achieving their goals.
Yorke has his say on disappointing United term
Reacting to the current affairs at his former club, where he made history by being part of United’s treble-winning squad in 1999, Yorke said (via DAZN): “I wouldn’t be happy with the Europa League. We’re playing for fourth at the moment.
“Right now, seventh is where we are as a team which is unacceptable given the amount of talent the club has at the moment.
“We will wait and see at the end of the season but I don’t see United winning any major competitions, certainly not this season. I’ll be very happy if United finish fourth.”
