MLS outfit set to hire Manchester United assistant Eric Ramsay as manager

Minnesota United are closing in on a deal to appoint Manchester United assistant coach Eric Ramsay as their new manager.

The MLS side are currently being coached by Cameron Knowles, who is head coach of their second team, and he’s expected to take control of their matches until Ramsay arrives.

That is according to The Athletic, although the deal isn’t done yet because Ramsay remains under contract at Old Trafford.

It is understood that all parties are working on a deal, so all signs point towards a conclusion at some point since the news was broken through a reputable publication.

Ramsay will gain valuable experience as a first team manager if he joins Minnesota United. He is already highly rated in the English game and could be set to become the youngest head coach in MLS this season.

Meanwhile, United will lose a respected coach who has worked under three different managers during his time at Old Trafford. They include Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Ralf Rangnick and Erik ten Hag.

He was also an assistant coach for the Wales national team for six months in addition to his responsibilities at United.

Unlike Newcastle, you won’t see us putting Ramsay on gardening leave.
