(Video) Kobbie Mainoo booked despite perfect tackle on Luton Town’s Jordan Clark

Manchester United youngster Kobbie Mainoo was subjected to a questionable yellow card at Kenilworth Road on Sunday afternoon.

David Coote was referee for Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Luton Town.

The Premier League official will be criticised for his performance in a game he was trigger happy when it came to yellow cards, even though Erik ten Hag admitted Casemiro’s foul on Ross Barkley was worthy of a yellow card which would have been his second in the first half.

Casemiro escaped that booked but the manager still opted to replace the Brazilian at half-time because he was walking a tightrope with the referee at Kenilworth Road.

However, Coote booked Kobbie Mainoo after 75 minutes for what was a perfectly clean tackle on Luton Town winger Jordan Clark.

Check out the video below which shows Mainoo winning the ball without many any contact with Clark.

  1. Said at the time it was a clean fair tackle. That referee was far too card happy, trying to impose his authority even when it wasn’t deserved. The FA should rescind it and reprimand the ref. Where was VAR ?
