‘Another final’ – Andre Onana gives verdict after 2-1 win over Luton Town

Manchester United had to dig deep to secure three points against Luton Town at Kenilworth Road on Sunday, but Andre Onana admits that the Reds were determined to avoid late disappointment as each game is now a final on our quest to finish in the top four.

It was a fourth consecutive Premier League win for United – our best run this season – courtesy of a first-half brace from Rasmus Hojlund.

Luton Town responded when Carlton Morris got on the scoresheet seven minutes later.

Although United improved after the interval, it was all too close for comfort when you consider the amount of clear cut chances we wasted at Kenilworth Road.

The Hatters also hit the crossbar in stoppage time through Ross Barkley, and Onana admits United’s players were determined to defend the cross into the box and not let the points slip through their fingers.

“This is giving us more confidence (winning ugly),” Onana told MUTV, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News. “We are happy when we win this kind of game because these three points are very important for us to fight to be in the top four.

“But like I have said, it is always going to keep us together. At the last corner from them, we were all together saying: ‘Guys, this is the last one, let’s defend it properly.'”

Onana added that Saturday’s game against Fulham will come as another final: “I believe it is how we win games, being together in good and bad moments. We have to help each other even when things are not going good. We have to fight and continue like this.

“We didn’t do anything spectacular but we have to continue winning games – that is the main thing. We have to win against every opponent and the next game is another final for us.”

Onana didn’t cover himself in glory against Luton Town as he came out star-jumping for Morris’ goal. The errors are adding up.
