11 G/A Manchester United star added to PSG’s summer shortlist of potential Mbappe replacements

Paris Saint-Germain are ready to reignite their interest in Marcus Rashford after receiving confirmation of Kylian Mbappe’s desire to leave the club.

As per Times Sport, the Ligue 1 outfit have begun drawing up their shortlist of proven forwards to replace the generational talent that is Mbappe, as he finally looks to ply his trade away from his native France.

Rashford is believed to be among the potential candidates, which isn’t all that unexpected given that PSG tried their luck in the past to sway the 26-year-old to the Parc des Princes, but a deal failed to ever materialise.

£171 million a year will be slashed from the Parisians’ wage bill when the World Cup winner departs, and their state ownership already gives them almost unlimited freedom on the transfer market to spend to their hearts’ desire. Rashford, who penned a five-year deal in July 2023, could be tempted by the prospect of being the face of PSG’s new era.

It remains to be seen if the Manchester United board, now operating under the guidance of INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, would be open to sanctioning their academy graduate’s exit. He has notched five goals and six assists in 29 appearances this term and barring any injuries or off-the-pitch issues, is a regular starter under Erik ten Hag.
