Roy Keane accuses Gary Neville of bias when selecting MOTM from Manchester United win

Two former Manchester United players were in the studio after Sunday’s 2-1 win against Aston Villa.

During Sky Sports’ post-match analysis of the late kick-off on Sunday, Roy Keane implied Gary Neville has a bias when selecting the player of the match.

It was a relief to watch Erik ten Hag’s side come away from Villa Park with three points because we all want to be seeing United push for a place in the top four at the end of the season.

Harry Maguire started alongside Raphael Varane in United’s ever-charging defence. He was a nuisance for Villa in the air and won a header from a corner to find Rasmus Hojlund for United’s opener.

I wasn’t surprised to hear Neville name Maguire as his Player of the Match, however, Keane wouldn’t have went that far.

The Irishman said (via Daily Mail): “I thought he did alright today, obviously some lads give defenders Man of the Match because they’ve been defenders themselves – that type of scenario. It was definitely going to be a defender.”

When asked who he would’ve chosen instead of Maguire, Keane replied: “No big deal about that but we’ve praised the defenders considered the amount of chances Villa had.

“Winning Man of the Match the bottom line is it’s no big deal, what’s important for Maguire is he’s getting games under his belt and he’s getting back up to speed.

“He’s a good, solid, experienced defender. The problems are still there for Man United, they got away with it today because the attacking players are scoring goals.”

Let us know in the comments section who you would select as man of the match from today’s win over Villa.
