In tribute to those who lost their lives in the Munich Air Disaster, the Busby Babes surfer flag will be unfurled on the Stretford End ahead of Sunday’s game with West Ham.
Sixty-six years on from the tragic, shocking events of 6 February 1958, the Munich Air Disaster remains the central day in Manchester United’s history.
The crash resulted in 23 people losing their lives, including eight players and three members of staff.
The Busby Babe surfer flag has been in used in the past – in tribute to the victims – and you can see it below, as shared by Stretford End Flags via X.

Moreover, Erik ten Hag will lay a commemorative wreath on behalf of the club shortly before kick-off. The players will also wear black armbands as a mark of respect, which will be replicated across all youth matches this weekend. Flags will fly at half-mast and The Flowers of Manchester will play through the PA system as the teams walk out of the tunnel.
A fan-led service will take place, underneath the Munich memorial plaque from 12:00 – 12:30 GMT.
The club has invited families of the victims to attend the match against West Ham as guests.
They will never be forgotten.
