Jude Bellingham reported to La Liga over Mason Greenwood slur

Getafe have reported Jude Bellingham to La Liga for reportedly calling Mason Greenwood “a rapist” during Thursday’s game between Real Madrid and the Spanish team.

The incident seemed to happen during a challenge close to the touchline during Los Blancos’ 2-0 victory. Following his tackle on the Manchester United attacker, Bellingham was seen arguing with Greenwood.

Television cameras captured Bellingham speaking to Greenwood after the incident, however the England midfielder’s words were not audibly captured on the camera.

After the final whistle, Getafe reportedly approached the La Liga delegate who was present during the game and asked that Bellingham’s alleged statement be included in the referee’s official match report, according to Spanish publication Cadena SER.

Even if the accusation against Bellingham is unsubstantiated, should an inquiry show otherwise, the former Borussia Dortmund player may face a severe punishment.

The 22-year-old Greenwood left Manchester United on loan in the summer when it was decided he would not be continuing his career with the Premier League team.

Following his arrest in October 2022, the striker faced charges of attempted rape, using coercive and controlling behavior, and assault resulting in actual bodily harm. The Crown Prosecution Service later withdrew the charges.

Greenwood was moved on loan to Getafe after an internal inquiry and a decision by Manchester United, and it is anticipated that he would eventually depart the team permanently.

In his 21 Getafe appearances this season, Greenwood has six goals and four assists in all competitions. The Spanish team is presently ranked tenth in La Liga.
