Former Man United star Jesse Lingard is on the verge of surprising free transfer

Former Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard is about to finalise an unexpected transfer to FC Seoul in South Korea.

Since departing Nottingham Forest in the summer, the midfielder has been a free agent.

Lingard has reportedly verbally agreed to a two-year contract with FC Seoul, with the option to extend it by one more year, according to Sky Sports.

In the upcoming days, the 31-year-old is anticipated to take a plane to South Korea to finalise the transfer. In addition to winning the K League six times, FC Seoul have advanced twice to the Asian Champions League final.

Former Swansea and Newcastle player Ki Sung-yeung is a member of their squad; in 2023, he helped the team finish seventh.

The 31-year-old accepted Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq’s invitation to train in Saudi Arabia, but after spending time there, no agreement was ever reached for a transfer.

According to reports, Jesse Lingard also made an offer to sign with Barcelona last month, but the financially challenged Spanish team passed on him despite their injury problems. The former West Ham United player apparently anticipated a January transfer from Al Shabab, a Saudi Pro League club, but they chose to focus on acquiring Ivan Rakitic.

The Englishman is now ready to sign with FC Seoul of South Korea and the agreement is close to completion. In an attempt to find a new club, he sacked his representatives, including family members, and he has now been successful in gaining a move.

The Englishman had been furious that so many contract offers and enquiries had gone through since leaving Forest.
