Paul Scholes launches X-rated rant at Arsenal tactic under Mikel Arteta

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes was left bemused by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta’s tactical decision during the Gunners’ 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Tuesday night.

Scholes slammed Arteta’s use of Olekandandr Zinchenko and Ben White – without directly mentioning Arsenal.

The dig was aimed at Zinchenko and White who were advancing further up the pitch as the Gunners attempted to break down their opponents on the night.

Scholes took to Instagram to write: “A full-back coming into central midfield is an insult to a central midfield player… I think he/she should be told to get the f*** back out there… night.”

Arsenal eventually managed to break down Forest thanks to goals from Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka. However, a late consolation goal by Taiwo Awoniyi made for a nervy end to the match for the Gunners.

The win means Arsenal sit in second place – two points behind Liverpool, who have one game in hand.

Meanwhile, City are three points adrift of Arsenal, but Pep Guardiola’s side have two games in hand.
