Manchester United face competition from Premier League clubs for Swedish wonderkid

Lucas Bergvall emerged as a Manchester United target in recent weeks after impressing for Djurgardens in the Swedish top-flight.

The 17-year-old midfielder appears to be one for the future after scoring twice in 25 league appearances.

Bergvall is now thought to be attracting attention from more Premier League clubs and it sounds like United could face stiff competition for his signature.

A report from talkSPORT suggests Brighton and Man City are in the hunt for the midfield ace.

Bergvall came through the ranks at the country’s famed IF Brommapojkarna academy system.

Newcastle are another club that have been linked with a move to try bring him to the Premier League.

Meanwhile, German duo Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund are also keen as well as Barcelona.

Stretty News verdict

I would like to think that INEOS, with their ‘football first’ philosophy, will prioritise the signings of young footballers. The best young stars across the globe.

That would mean dipping into markets where United have been very shy in recent years. It seems like other Premier League clubs (Chelsea and Man City) are making good use of their scouting systems in South America. All while United sit idle.

We don’t know a great deal about Bergvall or whether he will be good enough for United. I guess only time will tell.
