Sir Alex Ferguson and Javier Hernandez exchange heartfelt messages as Mexican striker returns to Chivas

Sir Alex Ferguson and Javier Hernandez exchanged heartfelt messages ahead of the Mexican striker’s return to boyhood club Chivas.

Earlier on Wednesday, the 35-year-old make a shock return to Liga MX side Chivas as a free agent. He is back where he made his professional debut in 2006 before spending a further four years at the Mexican outfit before moving to Old Trafford.

Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who signed Hernandez from Chivas 2011, wished him luck for his upcoming stint.

Manchester United released a clip of Ferguson via X. The Scot said: “Chicharito. It’s your old boss here. First of all, I want to congratulate you on your return to your old club, back in Mexico, where it all started. Where I found you, signed you, and you were a great, fantastic player for us. You’ve had a great career. I think now, when you go back to your old club, you have an opportunity to add your experience and give your experience to all the players there. So, regards to your family, have a great time and more goals to come. All the best.”

Hernandez wasted no time thanking his former manager. In response on X, the striker wrote: “Boss, there’s no words to describe how much you mean to me. Being able to say I was one of your players is one of my biggest achievements. THANK YOU! And to my other family @ManUtd thank you for letting me be part of your history. Will love you forever. Once a red always a red.”

The only Mexican to win the Premier League later played for Real Madrid, West Ham and Sevilla before heading to MLS side LA Galaxy in 2020.

Chivas are next in action on Saturday when they take on Club Tijuana.
