Facundo Pellistri closing in on third La Liga loan spell

Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri is closing in on a loan switch to Granada.

The deal is in place after some delays this week, with respected journalist Fabrizio Romano reporting that an agreement is close as talks continue to progress.

Romano adds that Pellistri gave his green light to the move 10 days ago.

This update comes after the Daily Mail suggested that Pellistri’s loan move to Granada had stalled because the La Liga outfit are struggling to afford the player’s salary.

Pellistri, 22, is believed to have attracted interest from a number of other clubs across Europe.

The Uruguay international has struggled for minutes this season and has only made one Premier League start for the Reds. This will be Pellistri’s third loan move to La Liga since joining United from Penarol in 2020. He spent his previous two spells with Alaves.

If Pellistri does head to Granada, which is looking very likely, he will join a team battling relegation. Alexander Medina’s side currently sit just one place off the bottom of the table after managing just two wins since the start of the season.

It remains to be seen if Pellistri will be available for United’s FA Cup fourth round clash against Newport County on Sunday.

Ten Hag will be eager to give minutes to players returning from injury.
