Newport County shut ticket office after staff ‘abuse’ ahead of Manchester United tie

Newport County fans are scrambling for tickets.

The League Two side were given a dream draw for the FA Cup fourth-round, with the tie taking place on Sunday at Rodney Parade.

Their fans were made a promise that all remaining tickets for the FA Cup clash would be available to purchase online only from 10am on Monday. Tickets are limited to a maximum of two per person.

Newport have decided to shut the ticket office after the alleged treatment of support staff during a priority purchase period on Thursday. They will “not condone this behaviour towards any member of its staff,” a Newport spokesperson said in a statement as per Sky News.

The statement continues to say the club will “employ a zero-tolerance policy going forward” which could result in stadium bans or legal action.

“The club’s small pool of staff has worked extremely hard across long hours in recent weeks to organise the two sell-out games against Wrexham and Manchester United.

“The club would like to thank them for their dedication and commitment.”

Erik ten Hag needs a run in the cup

The Manchester United manager is still under immense pressure to turn things.

Sitting seventh in the Premier League, out of Europe and the Carabao Cup, it goes without saying that we’ve gone backwards since Ten Hag’s first season in charge.

This year he will be hoping to go all the way in the FA Cup, after losing to rivals Man City in last season’s final.

Wigan Athletic proved to be an easy tie last time out. It should be the same story when we travel to Newport this weekend.

Winning the FA Cup would be enough to silence talk about INEOS needing the find a new manager, and it goes without saying that we are all very much behind Ten Hag.
