Manchester United join race for Swedish wonderkid who previously had trials with club

Manchester United have been linked with a move for Swedish teenager Lucas Bergvall.

The 17-year-old midfielder has already made 29 appearances for Swedish side Djurgardens, which has reportedly led to a number of Europe’s biggest clubs registering an interest in his signature.

German outlet Fussball News claims that United are ‘very hot’ in the race to sign Bergvall. It is alleged that the Reds have ‘put out feelers’ over a move for the teenager.

The report explains that Bergvall already has a bit of history with United. It could bode well for the club that he has previously enjoyed two trials, aged 14, especially when it potentially comes to us to fight off interest from elsewhere.

Djurgardens’ asking price is believed to be in the region of €8-10m (£6.8m-8.5m) but a January move is not to be expected.

United are not expected to make any permanent signings this month. We will be lucky to see a player or two arrive on loan. Sadly, that is the best Ten Hag can ask for midway through the season.
