Manchester United could take advantage of Everton’s financial situation with summer signing

Everton are under increasing pressure to keep hold of their best players if they want to avoid running into further financial issues.

One player that reportedly interests Manchester United is their highly-rated defender Jarrad Branthwaite.

According to talkSPORT, Branthwaite is wanted by both United and Real Madrid after emerging as one of the Premier League’s most promising centre-backs.

The 21-year-old would help generate huge profits after Everton’s latest charge for being in breach of Premier League profit and sustainability rules. Nottingham Forest have also been charged with breaches of the same policies, as per ESPN.

Should Everton be found guilty by the independent Premier League commission, they could face a further points deduction.

Branthwaite is of the age that – if he develops into a better defender – we could be talking about a regular starter in the team for the coming years.

A report from the Daily Mail states United sent scouts to watch Everton’s scoreless draw with Aston Villa at the weekend to keep an eye on Branthwaite.

The defender did a good job by helping his side keep a clean sheet against a side that has plenty of attacking quality.

Let us know in the comments section if you think Branthwaite would be a good signing for United.
