Paul Ince urges Manchester United to take different approach to transfer strategy

Paul Ince believes Manchester United need to take a totally different approach in the transfer window.

The former United midfielder has told the Reds to be bold in the transfer market but not feel as though the big names always have to be sought after – just because of the club’s stature.

While Ineos wait to have their deal to takeover 25% of United ratified by the Premier League, investment on transfers is likely to be cooled off until the summer. The Glazers aren’t going to back Ten Hag when there’s limited funds and no European football for at least another year.

More than £400 million has been spent since Ten Hag was hired as manager and he is currently under pressure to get results. It hasn’t helped that United have had a torrid injury crisis throughout the season, with key players only starting to step up their recovery process ahead of this weekend’s clash against Tottenham.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, Ince said: “There are always different ways of looking at the transfer market, but sometimes you need to be clever and don’t always feel you’ve got to buy the biggest names.

“No disrespect, but Casemiro is on the other side of 30 and they paid £60million for him. That is a lot of money, as good as he is.”

Ince may have a point about Casemiro because this is likely to be his final season at the club and we’ll definitely need to find a replacement in the summer one way or another.
