Manchester United and Arsenal linked with 21 y/o Dutch striker

Manchester United are expected to part ways with Anthony Martial in the summer when the Frenchman’s contract expires. The club are expected to be in the market for strikers and Erik ten Hag is reportedly keeping taps on Ajax striker Brian Brobbey.

Ten Hag has signed a number of players he worked with in Amsterdam since becoming United manager last year. Now it sounds like another could follow the likes of Antony, Lisandro Martinez and Andre Onana.

He worked with the Dutch striker after handing him his debut at Ajax in 2020. The Mirror claims Ten Hag is confident he will remain as United manager and is already starting to think about attacking reinforcements, with Brobbey being one name on the club’s radar this summer.

The report also states that Ten Hag wants to sign a striker in January, although he will be restricted to loan moves due to the club’s financial position. Ineos are still waiting on their deal to be ratified by the Premier League, therefore, they’re not expected to have an impact on transfers this month.

It is understood that United plan to continue scouting Brobbey for the rest of the season as a potential option to challenge Rasmus Hojlund for a place in the team.

United could face Premier League competition for the 21-year-old, with Arsenal also said to be interested in making a move.

Brobbey has made 15 Eredivisie appearances this season, scoring 8 goals and registering 4 assists.
