Jadon Sancho’s time at Manchester United has been far from comfortable. From one controversy to the next, Sancho’s two-and-a-half years have been disappointing.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer targetted the England international in three consecutive summer transfer windows and in 2021, he finally got his man.
Since then, he has been in and out of the team owing to poor form but also difficulties off the pitch. Halfway through last season, Sancho was dumped by Erik ten Hag but returned to the side revitalised. That was, however, short-lived as his struggles quickly reappeared.
Sancho was one of the most prominent players in United’s pre-season campaign going into Ten Hag’s second season but before you knew it, he was out of the team again.
That sparked a public feud with Ten Hag and Sancho has not made an appearance for over four months and is even banished from training and dining with the first team at Carrington.
An exit in this January transfer window was almost certain and as things stand, it looks like he is set for a six-month return to Borussia Dortmund.
Now, speaking before a move has been confirmed, Dortmund midfielder Emre Can has spoken on the possibility of reuniting with Sancho, admitting he would be happy to see him return.
“Personally, I would be extremely happy because I think a lot about him, and I believe that if he comes, he will help us,” Can is quoted as saying by Sky Germany.
“But I don’t know how far it is or whether he’s coming or not coming.
“But it would definitely be nice if he came. He is a difference maker. He’s always good for a goal, he’s always good for an assist and he will definitely help us if he comes along.
“He is extremely talented and is simply a difference-maker.”
If rumours are to be believed, Sancho is set to complete a return to Dortmund next week but the German club will not have a buy option in the agreement.
