AC Milan join Manchester United in race to sign player Sir Jim Ratcliffe already employs

Manchester United may look to reinforce a number of areas in the next two transfer windows but Erik ten Hag is unlikely to get the players he wants this January.

That’s due to a lack of funds after two summers of heavy spending and the ongoing takeover, which recently culminated in Sir Jim Ratcliffe acquiring 25% of the club.

Ten Hag is light in several areas but he has been particularly weak at centre-back so far this season, with the Dutchman coming to makeshift solutions more than once already.

All of his centre-backs have had spells on the sidelines due to injury and there are question marks over the futures of Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans.

That has led to an influx in reports linking the club to centre-backs but one name has remained a hot topic and that’s OGC centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo.

Late last year, it was reported that Ratcliffe was keen on bringing Todibo to United, with the Reds shareholder already owning the club Todibo currently represents.

Now, there is an update on the situation as more and more clubs are reportedly circling and gearing up to make moves for the Frenchman.

That’s according to French outlet RMC Sport, who say that although Todibo is not likely to depart the Ligue 1 title hopefuls in this window, there are admirers.

As per the report, Todibo’s stellar first half of the season have sent signals across Europe, with AC Milan becoming the latest side to join United in the race to sign him. In addition to United, free-spending Chelsea are said to hold an interest in the player as well.

It’s claimed that Chelsea and United are keen to go ahead with a deal and would have no issues with the economics of it but Nice are reluctant to let one of their star players leave halfway through the season.
