Sir Jim Ratcliffe could sign player he already employs at OGC Nice

Manchester United are entering a period of uncertainty on and off the pitch as Erik ten Hag continues to battle with his side’s inconsistent form and relentless takeover speculation.

More than a year has passed since the Glazer family announced they were open to outside investment and after a prolonged head-to-head duel between Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, it is believed the latter will be confirmed as a minority shareholder imminently.

Ratcliffe is set to acquire 25% of the club and will assume responsibility for the club’s footballing department, meaning it is likely he will be calling the shots.

The effects of that are already being felt, with the club recently announcing that Richard Arnold, the club’s CEO, is set to leave the club.

It is unclear when Ratcliffe’s deal to buy a quarter of the club is ratified by the Premier League but now, it is being reported that the Englishman could sign a player he already employs at OGC Nice, the French club he currently owns.

That’s according to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, who claims Jean-Clair Todibo is an option for the upcoming January transfer window.

As per the report, any move for Todibo would not interfere with a future move for Antonio Silva, who has emerged as the latest exciting talent from Portugal.

It is increasingly clear that United are on the hunt for another centre-back after a last-minute decision to re-sign Jonny Evans last summer.

There are also question marks over the futures of Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof, with Lisandro Martinez missing the best part of the latest eight months due to injury.
