Granada concerned about Manchester United recalling loanee left-back

A report from Spain claims Manchester United are thinking about recalling Alvaro Fernandez from his loan spell at Granada.

According to Cope, Granada are concerned that United might exercise their return clause and sell the player to Benfica, which would help with Financial Fair Play.

The defender’s contract expires in 2024 so January would be the last chance for United to make profit on the 20-year-old, unless the club is planning to offer Fernandez a new deal.

Fernandez was overlooked by Erik ten Hag at the start of the season amid an injury crisis in defence. United were left with no available left-backs and the manager decided to sign Sergio Reguilon on loan from Tottenham instead of giving Fernandez a run in the first team.

The left-back has been played as a winger at Granada and has impressed Benfica, despite the La Liga side’s worrying campaign.

It didn’t look like Fernandez had a future at United at the beginning of the season, and I would be surprised if anything has changed since then.

  1. man u , should give Fernandez, i think personally
he as a bright future give y/p a chance i think he will end up being one of the best left back in the world give him a chance mark my words watch out for him .

    1. I concur, united always sells their players on the cheap, whereas Benefica will charge a arm and a leg for any of their players when a top team from the UK. Makes an approach, I mean TenHag wants to buy an injury prone sessenjor from spurs for £25.million, that’s laughably questionable, just keep Fernandez

  2. you have to keep him at man utd i’m positive with what i have seen i belive he has the potential to impress and join the first team never let him go

  3. Mostly player from their academy who has a bright future was bring in by ole, and ten hag considering to sell them at a cheap price and get an excuses their campaign were ruined by injury. I think the one who should go was the manager himself. He is selling bright prospect and buy an incapable expensive player to be in his squad
