Gabriel Agbonlahor thinks Crystal Palace star would be a great signing for Manchester United

The January transfer window is open and pundits are having their say on who Manchester United should be signing.

I don’t expect the Reds to be busy in the market because Sir Jim Ratcliffe is waiting on his deal for 25% of the club to be ratified by the Premier League. That means it won’t be until the summer when Ineos can begin to influence how United operates in the transfer market.

Still, it goes without saying that Erik ten Hag’s side needs a few additions. The manager has had a shortage of defenders and midfielders due to injuries this season, and to make matters worse he only has one reliable centre-forward in Rasmus Hojlund.

Perhaps offloading some players in January could make it possible for United to bring in new recruits, although I think it is most likely that we’ll see one or two players come in on loan until the end of the season.

However, that won’t stop speculation about permanent moves in the summer and United are being heavily linked with Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise.

Former Aston Villa striker turned presenter Gabriel Agbonlahor has told talkSPORT that he is convinced Olise would be a stellar signing fort United.

Agbonlahor said (TBR Football): “A the moment 100% he improves that Manchester United forward line.

“When he is on it, he can be off it, but when he’s on it he has pace, power, skill, technique, he can get past a player, composure with his finishing.

“He has everything that you need to be at a top club. I think at his age, 22, he is the sort of signing Manchester United should look at. I think thumbs up.”

It makes sense to be looking at talented wingers like Olise because Jadon Sancho is on the verge of leaving and Antony has not hit the ground running since his transfer from Ajax. As a result, Ten Hag’s side are light in the wide areas.

Ineos and Ratcliffe have a lot of work to do this year.
