After signing for Manchester United in the summer, Rasmus Hojlund has been voted Denmark’s Talent of the Year for 2023.

It’s been a big year for the young Dane from breaking into Atalanta’s side to completing a mega-money transfer to United.

Although he has yet to score in the Premier League for his new club, Hojlund certainly made amends in Europe by scoring five goals in the Champions League group stage, despite our disappointingly premature exit from the competition.

On the international stage, Hojlund has been a key figure in Denmark’s Euro 2024 qualifying campaign as they topped Group H to qualify for next year’s finals. Manchester United’s new striker scored seven goals in his eight appearances and was among the top scorers of the qualifying campaign.

The Danes have been drawn against Slovenia, Serbia and England in the group stages.

This week the Danish Football Association rewarded Hojlund for his performances over the duration of 2023 with their Talent of the Year award.

“It means a lot to me,” Hojlund said of the award, as per ManUtd.com.

“I’m incredibly proud. It’s an extremely talented field of players, but I also think I’ve done well this year, and I’m really happy and proud of myself to win the award.

“It’s always great to win, and there are many talented footballers who have won this award before me – team-mates and former team-mates – so it’s great to be able to say that you have become Talent of the Year.”

It goes without saying that Hojlund is finding it difficult to score in a side that doesn’t create enough clear cut opportunities. The players around him aren’t find him enough but his work ethic and talent is clear to see.

He was unlucky not to score against Liverpool at Anfield last weekend.
