German coach divulges his club’s desire to sign ‘outstanding’ Manchester United man

Eintracht Frankfurt boss Dino Toppmoller has addressed the impending arrival of Manchester United’s Donny van de Beek.

It was confirmed on Monday that the midfielder would be undergoing his required medical tests with Frankfurt within 24 hours and assuming all is well, Van de Beek will put pen to paper on his loan contract this week.

He will sign in the forthcoming window and oversee the second half of the 2023/24 campaign with the Bundesliga outfit, with the temporary transfer set to conclude in June 2024. Then, Frankfurt have the option of signing Van de Beek permanently for £13 million; the buy clause is not mandatory, meaning he may return to Old Trafford in the summer.

Van de Beek, 26, had recently expressed his desire to take on a new venture away from United, having learnt the hard way that he’ll play no part in Erik ten Hag’s plans – he’s featured for a total of 21 minutes this term across two brief cameos.

Hopefully, the Dutch international can get back to enjoying his football again, as all parties can admit that his United switch just didn’t go to plan nor live up to expectations.

Toppmoller confirms Van de Beek interest

Quizzed on the rumoured deal with the Red Devils, Toppmoller told FAZ: “He’s [Van de Beek] not our player yet.

“I think everyone who knows a little bit about football knows that he is an outstanding footballer. If he signs, we would be looking forward to it.”

  1. I hope DvdB goes to Germany and gets his career back on track and thrives and personally I’d like to see him come back to Old Trafford and have a glorious career! I just can’t see that unfortunately whilst Bruno is still around, and that is another thing. I don’t think that however good a player Bruno is, and he is, that Man Utd will be successful with him in the team. It just doesn’t work with him in the team, I don’t know why, but it doesn’t. I will finish with the question, should Bruno walk back into a team that performed so well without him?
