(Video) Erik ten Hag regrets wasted chances vs Liverpool but happy with performance

Erik ten Hag has delivered his verdict after his side walked away with a point from Anfield, having been close to winning the game on a number of occasions in the second half.

United had their backs against the wall for some periods of the game but thwarted Liverpool well, with the hosts creating very few clear-cut chances over the 90 minutes.

Liverpool were heavy favourites going into the game but that did not translate onto the pitch, with the two sides playing out a rather eventless scoreless draw in the end.

Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund were the players to come closest to a goal for United and after the game, Ten Hag admitted that although his side should have been better at taking their chances, he was happy with the performance.

“It’s a good point but we didn’t win and we always want to win,” Ten Hag told BeIN Sports after the game, as seen above.

“We are pleased with the performance. We are pleased with the clean sheet, we defended very well, very disciplined.

“Now we have to get to the next part of it and to take more in possession. I think when we get more, two or three times after ball regains, then we can hurt them really.

“We had our chances and we didn’t take them. We had huge chances with Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund but all over, I’m pleased with the performance but we always want to win.”

United now have six days of rest before their next game – a trip to West Ham. Ten Hag will be aiming to use that game to kickstart a run of winning form and ultimately spark some life into the season.
