Bundesliga outfit ‘very optimistic’ after concrete talks over Manchester United midfielder

Donny van de Beek’s hefty salary could prove to be a stumbling block as he looks to leabe Manchester United in January.

Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt are favourites to sign the Netherlands international on loan in January, but Van de Beek has also attracted interest from Spain.

A new report from Bundesliga expert Christian Falk suggests concrete talks have already began between Eintracht Frankfurt and United over a deal. It is believed that the only stumbling block is the player’s €7m annual salary at Old Trafford, which is too high for Frankfurt.

There’s always room for negotiation, though. The next few weeks could be big for Van de Beek as he aims to get back on the pitch and playing football matches regularly. After all, it’s the only way he can get back into the Netherlands squad.

In a column for Caught Offside, Falk explains: “They will have to find an alternative solution, one of which being getting the player on reduced wages, and the other being United covering some of the salary for Frankfurt. Frankfurt are very optimistic that this deal could work out.”

Spanish side Girona are also hovering for Van de Beek, but only time will tell who is going to make the best offer and there isn’t a lot to suggest there will be a permanent deal just yet.

Surely it’s only a matter of time before Van de Beek leaves United after failing to break his way into the midfield.
