‘Get behind the manager’ – Wes Brown calls on Manchester United to make signings in January

It has been a terrible season for Manchester United to date. The only way Erik ten Hag and the team can turn things around in the second half of the campaign is by finishing in the top four and giving the fans a decent run in the FA Cup.

There has been some reports surrounding the future of the manager which is never a good look, especially when he will be hoping to be backed in the January transfer window because there is no way he is happy with the players available to him most weeks.

Of course, injuries never help and we’ve had more than our share of them this season, but United must act on that when the transfer window reopens. This is when Ten Hag needs to be backed as a state of emergency and we know the Glazers never cared about what happens on the pitch.

But there is new investment coming to Manchester United in the shape of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and we’ll soon see what their plans are for the future.

Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown has called on the club to make signings in January. He wants the team to learn how to deal with injuries, although one solution for that is to sign fit players.

“If it was up to me, a signing in each position,” Brown told OLBG. “When the transfer window opens again, the club have to get behind the manager, and I think they will.

“The United injuries aren’t ideal but there are lots of teams with injuries,  you just have to handle it. There’s not much you can do. At the beginning of the season, it’s not something you can predict so management doesn’t think about it too much because everyone’s fit and ready to go.

“You have to get players that probably don’t play week in, week out up to speed and that’s all you can do as a manager. Players want to play every game so when you get these opportunities, you have to try and do well to show the manager that you deserve to be in a starting 11.”

It’s no secret that injuries have been a huge factor in United’s dire form this season. Something has to give, though, and we will soon see if Ratcliffe is willing to spend his money in the transfer market.
