Liverpool have announced that Sunday’s clash with Manchester United at Anfield will be watched by more than 57,000 supporters – marking their biggest attendance since April 1973.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently top of the Premier League table and United have been desperate this season, which means most think Sunday’s game is only going one way.
Now Liverpool have confirmed that the next stage of the planned phased opening of the new Anfield Road Stand will see the expanded upper tier open to supporters for the first time this weekend.
It is a game none of us are looking forward to and now the Scousers have another reason to be excited for it.
The Anfield Road Stand has been under development since September 2021 and they originally planned for it to be ready at the start of this season. They held a test event in the stand with fans on Monday night which featured a Q&A with manager Klopp.
Instead the opening takes place when United come to town.
Anfield is already a hostile atmosphere and they’ll be waiting for us to arrive knowing we are not in a good run of form at the moment.
Meanwhile, there is little to no work going on at Old Trafford. It’s a sorry state of affairs for the football club.
