Richard Arnold officially leaves Manchester United

Richard Arnold’s time as Manchester United chief executive if officially over after the club filed papers with Companies House.

It was announced last month that Arnold was stepping down after less than two years in post, but it feels like he jumped before he was pushed ahead of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s £1.25billion investment for 25% of the club from the Glazer family.

Patrick Stewart, the club’s general legal counsel, has taken over as United’s interim chief executive – but does he really know how to run a football club?

Not just any football club, but it’s a much greater ask at Manchester United than anywhere else…

Contrary to widespread belief, the Daily Mail claims Ratcliffe did not ask Arnold to leave but he knew the writing was on the wall and wanted to leave Old Trafford on his own terms.

Stretty News has understood that Arnold and Ineos did not see eye-to-eye during the initial meetings that took place at Old Trafford earlier this year, however, there has been nothing yet to suggest football director John Murtough will follow Arnold out the exit door.

Arnold will never be known as anything but a Glazer scrooge. Just like Ed Woodward but not as bad.
