Getafe are enjoying a decent season in La Liga where they currently sit 9th in the standings.
There is no doubt that they’ve been made stronger by the controversial arrival of Mason Greenwood, who joined Getafe on a season-long loan at the beginning of the campaign.
The Manchester United academy graduate joined Getafe after charges were dropped in a domestic abuse case that saw Greenwood accused of rape and bodily harm.
United decided to send him on loan and that was when Getafe pounced at the chance to sign him on loan. Greenwood has scored four goals and registered three assists in his 13 appearances for the Spanish side which sit in the top half of the La Liga table.
Greenwood, 22, has helped Getafe to such a point they want to keep beyond this season which has already been suggested by The Athletic two weeks ago.
Getafe president Angel Torres has now confirmed to Cadena SER that he to sign Greenwood in the summer.
“With Greenwood, we are not planning on him staying another year but we also want to buy him.”

Greenwood is trying to life a lowkey life in Spain and doesn’t seem to be doing any media interviews. It remain to be seen what his intentions are for the future after recently becoming a dad.
United will be open to offers for the forward and Getafe may be under pressure to match the asking price, especially if he continues to play well this season. Greenwood could even be persuaded if he enjoys the rest of his spell in Spain.
