Erik ten Hag is not filling his head with negativity ahead of Manchester United’s crucial Champions League tie against Bayern Munich.
We know that our chances of qualifying for the Champions League last-16 are slim and our players only have themselves to blame for that.
Fans can point fingers in multiple directions.
At this afternoon’s pre-match press conference, reporters were eager to ask Ten Hag whether he is contemplating exit from the Champions League ahead of the game.
“I never think in negative scenarios,” Ten Hag said, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News. “We think positively. We have to win to stay in Europe; it is all about that. We have shown in the last weeks that when we are at our best, we can do it.”
United’s form in Europe has been abysmal this season and it would take something special to see us reach the next round tomorrow night. We need to not only beat the Bundesliga champions at Old Trafford, but Copenhagen to draw with Galatasaray in the other Group A fixture that takes place on Tuesday night.
Scott McTominay joined Ten Hag for the press conference and the first question he was faced with focused on the team being consistently inconsistent.
“We are inconsistent as a team, we have not been naive to that. We have spoken with coaching staff about it. The schedule has been relentless, but we can’t use that as an excuse. As a group we have to come together and find out the answers to that.”
