Andre Onana was too impatient to wait for the outcome of Manchester United’s early penalty shout last night.
The Red Devils were awarded a spot-kick in just the eighth minute after Enzo Fernandez was deemed to have fouled Antony in the box; it was initially overlooked by Chris Kavanagh, but he was quickly advised to take a look at the pitchside monitor.
It was then that Onana also wanted to analyse the incident himself, as fan footage captured the goalkeeper coming well out of his area to peer over the referee’s shoulder as VAR replayed the incident.
Convinced by what he saw on the screen, Onana then gestured a thumbs up to his teammates, seemingly alerting them that the penalty would be given before Kavanagh pointed to the spot.

The chance to take the lead was ultimately squandered when Bruno Fernandes’ attempt was saved by Robert Sanchez, however, United sealed a 2-1 win thanks to Scott McTominay’s brace.
