(Video) Bruno Fernandes squanders chance to give United early lead with saved spot-kick vs Chelsea

Manchester United were granted an early chance to take the lead against Chelsea at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils looked to try and kickstart the game on the front foot in a bid to bounce back from their dismal defeat to Newcastle United at the earliest opportunity.

When on the attack, Antony was seemingly fouled by Enzo Fernandez in the penalty area but the challenge was initially overlooked by Chris Kavanagh. However, when VAR had a look at the incident, the referee was advised to take a look at the pitchside monitor for further review.

Kavanagh pointed to the spot in the ninth minute, much to Chelsea’s dismay, and Bruno Fernandes lined up his shot – before firing it at the hands of goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.
